MEMORANDUM

TO: EMS Personnel

FROM: Dr. Todd Husty

DATE: September 1, 2020

RE: Additional EMT Skills

The Medical Director has authorized EMTs trained through paramedic school or Medical Director approved training to perform IVs, IOs and intubations as long as the EMT is performing that skill under the direct supervision of a paramedic from a fire department located in Seminole County. All skills performed must be accurately documented in the patient care report. As well, any skills performed do not count as mentoring or precepting skills unless done in the presence of a department approved mentor/preceptor.
