Leaving run reports at the E.R.

2009-02-03

It has been brought to my attention recently, that on a few occasions, run reports and copies of EKGs are not to be found on a chart for patients brought in to an ED. The physicians are concerned because there is important information that helps generate further treatment based on what occurred initially. In other words . . . they need your information to take better care of the patient down the line.

Leaving a run report with good information that includes: history, medications, response to treatment and a copy of all EKGs is more than just a requirement . . . it actually helps in the care of your patient. This should be a great incentive to leave this information . . . every time.

Sincerely,

Todd M. Husty, D.O., F.A.C.E.P.
